Course Description:
Join us for Artisan ABQ’s first-ever Encaustic Photo Transfer Workshop! Discover the art of painting with hot wax in this hands-on class perfect for artists of all levels. You’ll learn the basics of encaustic safety, explore techniques for working with wax, and complete two wood panel paintings. You’ll also learn how to transfer printed images onto your wax creations using a modern phototransfer method. By the end of the workshop, you’ll feel confident in your ability to create your own unique encaustic photo transfers. All materials are included with your ticket—just bring your creativity!
Choose from two sessions: 11 AM or 2 PM. Space is limited, so don’t wait to reserve your spot!
*Please note: Working with hot wax may affect those with sensitive lungs. A fan will be used for ventilation, and masks will be available for anyone who would like one.

Artist Bio:
Mikaela Guggino is a local emerging artist with a focus on encaustic and manuscript painting. She holds a BA in Studio Art and an MA in Art History from the University of Denver, where she studied encaustic techniques under Deborah Howard.
Mikaela has served as a teaching assistant for encaustic courses at DU and has led workshops across New Mexico. Her work delves into themes of art history and compassion, using the creative process to explore contemporary issues and inspire empowerment through art.
