Wire Wrapping: Sculpting 2D & 3D Animals

Course Description:

In this hands-on, four-hour holiday-themed workshop, students will explore the art of wire wrapping to create their own 2D and 3D animal sculptures, festive Christmas tree ornaments, and unique wire-wrapped earrings—perfect for handmade Christmas gifts!

The class will begin with an introduction to essential tools and materials, followed by step-by-step instruction in fundamental wire-wrapping techniques. Whether you’re completely new to wire work or looking to refine your skills, personalized guidance will be available throughout the session to support your creative process.

This workshop is suitable for ages 8 through adult, making it a fun and festive activity for families or individuals.

By the end of the workshop, each student will leave with a completed wire-wrapped animal sculpture and at least one additional holiday-themed creation—along with the skills and inspiration to keep crafting all season long.

All materials are provided. No prior experience necessary!

About the Artist: 

For over 50 years, I’ve had the pleasure of participating in juried art and craft fairs across the country, delighting audiences of all ages with my whimsical wire creations. My work is deeply inspired by the world around me—shaped by personal observations, experiences, and unique interests.

Each piece is crafted entirely freehand using silver-plated and colored copper wire. I never use molds or jigs, which gives me the freedom to explore form and expression with spontaneity and creativity. More recently, I’ve been experimenting with motion, bringing my sculptures to life through hand-operated kinetic designs.

*This workshop is held in our downstairs classroom, which is not accessible to wheelchairs and some other mobility devices.
